Lee and Justin's Wedding

On October 17th Lee Bush and Justin Perry were married! We were so happy to be a part of their special day. This was Mia's first wedding and she did great. It was also her first stay in a hotel. We had a great weekend in Charlotte and were so happy to see old friends and meet new ones!

What a smile!!!

This was one part of our hotel room. I'm sitting on the bed taking the picture.

So pretty :)

Oh so sweet!

Mia and I went over to the Sirianna's house today before coffee and Virginie took some pictures. Mia loved the candycanes (they were plastic). Here's my favorite!

So much fun!

This afternoon Mia enjoyed some playtime on her mat. There is this sun that lights up and plays music hanging on the bars above her head. She was "talking" to him and smiling at him. It was so cute!
I love this one!!!

We also played on her tummy mat. She's getting better at holding up her head!

7 weeks

Mia is now 7 weeks old. She's growing and changing everyday. It's so exciting to watch! She's really smiling now. On Monday we went to the library for the Baby Lapsit. She slept through most of the songs and fingerplays but I think down the road she will really love this. We've been enjoying our new playgroup and have made lots of new friends. This weekend we are going to a wedding in Charlotte. It will be Mia's first wedding and first stay in a hotel. We will take lots of pictures and I will post them on Monday. For now here's a picture I snapped this afternoon. Love the cheese!!!

Daddy's First Feeding

Jimmy got to feed Mia for the first time! I started pumping last week and tonight we thought we would introduce a bottle. She doesn't seem to care where her food comes from as long as it gets in her belly. :) She did great and Jimmy loved it!

I love this smile!

Mia 6 weeks!

So much has happened in the last three weeks. Sorry I haven't posted sooner. First a quick summary and then some details. Let's see...party in Greensboro, joined a playgroup, 1 month old, thumb sucking, doctor appointment, smiling :)!

A couple of weeks ago Maryanne, Ray, Debbie and Kevin threw a party in Greensboro to welcome Mia! She got to meet many of our Greensboro friends and spend the night at grandma and grandpa's house. We had a great time!!! Before the party we went for a walk in the park near Maryanne and Ray's. The picture below is a statue in the park that Ray always talks about.

I found a group on Meetup.com of stay-at-home-moms in our area. We have been to a couple of playdates and have made some new friends. We are in the 0-6 month age group and right now Mia is the youngest. It's nice talking with other new moms who are going through some of the same things I am. We have lots of fun things planned for October!

Mia turned 1 month old on September 24th!

In the past couple of weeks Mia has shown interest in her thumb. We have a great video of her trying to get her thumb in her mouth. (Hopefully I'll be able to post it soon.) Lately she has been able to get her thumb in her mouth, hold it there and suck on it. It's awesome! I'm sure there will come a day where we will wish she didn't know how to do it. :)

Mia had her 1 month doctor appointment on September 30th. She weighs 7 lbs 9 oz and is still 19.5 inches long. The doctor said that she looks great. We were concerned about the birthmark on the back of her head and her umbilical hernia. He said both were fine and shouldn't cause her any problems. She had to have a shot which I think upset me more than it did her. Overall it went great.

Last week we thought that Mia may have noticed us and smiled. We weren't sure but my mom thought the same thing. Now we get really good smiles every day. It's so exciting watching her learn new things!

3 weeks old!

I can't believe that Mia is three weeks old today. It's crazy to think that 21 days ago we were in the hospital marveling over this brand new baby girl. Jimmy and I were talking last night and we both said that it's hard to remember life without her. Only 21 days and she has us absolutely wrapped around her little finger! I went to a lactation consultant last week and while we were there we weighed Mia and she weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz. Getting so big!!! Her umbilical cord stump fell off last night. It still has a little healing to do but we should be able to give her a real bath soon. I can't wait! Overall she's doing very well. She's waking up a bit and has had some crying periods here and there but does pretty well at night. (Knock on wood!) Daddy and I sometimes forget that she's not a big girl yet and try to do too much. We keep having to tell ourselves she's only 3 weeks!
