Mia 6 weeks!

So much has happened in the last three weeks. Sorry I haven't posted sooner. First a quick summary and then some details. Let's see...party in Greensboro, joined a playgroup, 1 month old, thumb sucking, doctor appointment, smiling :)!

A couple of weeks ago Maryanne, Ray, Debbie and Kevin threw a party in Greensboro to welcome Mia! She got to meet many of our Greensboro friends and spend the night at grandma and grandpa's house. We had a great time!!! Before the party we went for a walk in the park near Maryanne and Ray's. The picture below is a statue in the park that Ray always talks about.

I found a group on Meetup.com of stay-at-home-moms in our area. We have been to a couple of playdates and have made some new friends. We are in the 0-6 month age group and right now Mia is the youngest. It's nice talking with other new moms who are going through some of the same things I am. We have lots of fun things planned for October!

Mia turned 1 month old on September 24th!

In the past couple of weeks Mia has shown interest in her thumb. We have a great video of her trying to get her thumb in her mouth. (Hopefully I'll be able to post it soon.) Lately she has been able to get her thumb in her mouth, hold it there and suck on it. It's awesome! I'm sure there will come a day where we will wish she didn't know how to do it. :)

Mia had her 1 month doctor appointment on September 30th. She weighs 7 lbs 9 oz and is still 19.5 inches long. The doctor said that she looks great. We were concerned about the birthmark on the back of her head and her umbilical hernia. He said both were fine and shouldn't cause her any problems. She had to have a shot which I think upset me more than it did her. Overall it went great.

Last week we thought that Mia may have noticed us and smiled. We weren't sure but my mom thought the same thing. Now we get really good smiles every day. It's so exciting watching her learn new things!
